WE ARE SORRY BUT THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL. REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED.

The KCKPD Summer Youth Academy is an interactive learning experience designed to teach students about law enforcement while building relationships between our police officers and young adults in our neighborhoods.

This one-week summer program will be offered twice this summer, Session #1/South Patrol will be June 12-16, and Session #2/West Patrol, July 24-28. Designed for youth ages 12-15, the KCKPD Summer Youth Academy is a fun, interactive learning experience designed to:

  • familiarize youth with the many aspects of police work
  • promote greater understanding between youth and law enforcement
  • promote safety skills & tools needed to peacefully deal with conflict

We cover age appropriate topics, including: patrol procedures; crime scene investigation (CSI); criminal investigations; conflict resolution; traffic enforcement; Special Operations and K9 Units; and more.

An academy shirt will be provided to each participant and should be worn on the last day. Snacks and lunch are provided.

Participants should dress and act appropriately, giving respect to instructors and one another. We ask that you give your electronic devices a vacation by leaving them at home -  with the exception of cell phones, which may be used during breaks

Attendees are expected be present every day of the Academy, barring any unforeseen circumstances or prior arrangements made with the Academy coordinator.
