Student Ride-Along Program
The student ride along program provides students with the opportunity to observe and participate in designated activities within the Department. Students conducting research for classroom work or those interested in the field of law enforcement are welcome. The focus of the program will be to offer the students an opportunity to witness firsthand the day to day operations of the police department. Students are placed with a field officer and are encouraged to solicit information about the work of policing.
Candidates must be currently enrolled as a student in an area high school. A student advisor, counselor or teacher must approve of the student’s participation in the program in writing. All student participants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants must have completed the following: a written approval from a parent or guardian (required), have a successful completion of a background investigation, Ride-Along Waiver of Liability and Confidentiality forms.
