In addition, the Department can observe potential police applicants in action. The focus of the program will be to offer the students a variety of exposure within the Department.

Candidates must be currently enrolled as a student in a College or University. A Wyandotte County student enrolled in an out of state college or university will be given preference for the program. Other applicants will be considered and accepted at the discretion of the Police Training Commander. Applicants must have: a written approval of a faculty advisor and parent or guardian (as required), have a successful completion of a background investigation and oral interview conducted by the Program Director, and must complete the Student Intern Program Application, Ride-Along Waiver of Liability and Confidentiality forms.
