The SCORE Unit's mission is to effectively impact violent crime within the borders of the community of Kansas City, Kansas.  Our mission is to focus our effects on subduing those responsible for dangerous felonious acts to society and to bring calmness out of the chaos.  With this success, restoration can be made and the Police Department can then give the neighborhoods back to the law abiding citizens.

The primary function of the SCORE Unit is to reduce violent crime, and to utilize all legal remedies at its disposal to rid the community of dangerous felons and or any criminal activity where specialized attention is a necessity.  The SCORE Unit is also the tactical component of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.  As the tactical component, it is available around the clock, at any time, to respond to critical incidents that occur within our jurisdiction.  It is also available, upon request, to respond to critical incidents in other Kansas jurisdictions needing an additional tactical capability
