Robbery/Assault Unit
The Robbery/Assault Unit is responsible for the investigation of violent acts perpetrated against another person(s) which have occurred within the confines of Kansas City, Kansas. This unit investigates Felony Assaults and Batteries, Hate Bias crimes, Stalking, Drive by Shootings, Rape and other Sex Crimes, and Child Abuse cases.
Hate bias crimes are unlawful acts committed against persons, groups, or places targeted because of their race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or disability.
The Child Abuse Detail is responsible for the investigation of physical and sexual abuse of children under the age of sixteen (16) years of age. The unit will work in conjunction with representatives of the Social Rehabilitation Services and the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office.
This detail also investigates complaints of Child Pornography. Child Pornography is the depiction of any child engaged in a sexual act, or an image that is obviously not "artistic" or serving any educational purpose. The transmission or simply the possession of child pornography is illegal.
