Major Case Unit
The Major Case Unit is responsible for the investigation of homicides, suicides, suspicious deaths, and Sudden Infant Syndrome (SIDS) type incidents, and missing persons.
The Major Case Unit includes the following details:
- The Missing Persons Detail is responsible for follow-up investigations of reported persons missing or unaccounted for (adult or juvenile) and reported runaways involving juveniles under the age of eighteen (18) who purposefully leave home to escape parental custody and/or guidance.
- Case Screening is accountable for the receipt and proper distribution of all incoming crime reports initiated by Department personnel, the forwarding of all reports to the proper Unit Commanders and the sending of necessary correspondence to crime victims. The Case Screening Detail is responsible for receiving and distributing current and timely information department wide.
